How to convert an image format

  1. Open a supported image

Choose a JPG, PNG, WebP or GIF file, or an AVIF image your browser can decode. The converter processes one image at a time.

  2. Choose JPG, PNG or WebP

Select the output format. PNG and WebP can preserve transparency; JPG replaces transparent areas with white. For JPG or WebP, adjust Export quality if needed.

  3. Review the output and download

Check the selected format, dimensions and file size, then download the converted file. Apply changes if you want to keep these export settings while editing further.

JPG is useful for photos; PNG preserves transparency; WebP can keep files small.

Supported formats & limits

Open one image at a time (up to 30 MB): JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, or AVIF where your browser supports it. Save as JPG, PNG or WebP, with outputs limited to 12,000 pixels per side and 40 megapixels in total. Animated GIFs export as a still image; HEIC is not supported. WebP export needs browser encoding support (otherwise PNG is used); blur requires Canvas filters.

Images are processed in your browser. Image contents and filenames are not sent to our servers or analytics. Refreshing or leaving the tools area clears your working image.

Frequently asked questions

Which image formats can I convert?

You can open JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF and browser-supported AVIF files, then save as JPG, PNG or WebP. Animated GIFs become a still image. HEIC input and GIF or AVIF output are not supported.

Which output formats preserve transparency?

PNG and WebP can retain transparent areas. JPG has no transparency, so transparent pixels become white. Converting an opaque image to PNG does not remove its background.

Will changing the format improve image quality?

Conversion cannot recover detail already lost in the source. JPG and WebP quality settings can introduce additional loss, while PNG preserves the rendered pixels but may create a larger file.

Do my images get uploaded?

No. Images are processed locally in your browser. The website uses the anonymous page analytics described in our privacy policy, but image contents and filenames are not collected.

Can I combine edits?

Yes. Select Apply changes to keep an edit before continuing with another tool, or choose Apply & switch when prompted. Undo and Redo move through applied edits, and Restore original returns to the source image. Download your result before refreshing or leaving the tools area.

Need a specific width or height? Resize the image before your final download.

For JPG or WebP output, adjust compression quality to compare detail and file size.

Apply your changes?

Keep these changes before switching tools, or discard them and continue with your last applied image.

Leave without downloading?

Your current image and edits live only in this tab. Leaving the tools area clears this session. Keep editing to download your result first, or leave and discard the session.
