How to crop an image

  1. Open an image and choose an aspect ratio

Choose Free for an adjustable frame, or select 1:1, 4:3, 16:9, 3:2 or 9:16 to keep a fixed shape.

  2. Move, resize and straighten the crop

Drag inside the selection to move it, and drag an edge or corner to resize it. Turn the image by 90° or adjust Straighten to level the composition.

  3. Check the crop dimensions and download

Review the selected area and output dimensions. Download the cropped image, or select Apply changes before continuing with another tool.

Drag the corners or edges to resize, and drag inside to move. Choose a fixed ratio, turn by 90°, or drag the rotation handle to straighten. Straightening zooms the image to keep empty corners out of your crop.

Crop a screenshot for a bug report

Paste the screenshot, choose Free, and frame the relevant message or control. Keep enough surrounding context to explain the issue, then save as PNG to avoid adding JPG artifacts to text. Cropping removes the area outside the frame; anything inside remains visible.

Supported formats & limits

Open one image at a time (up to 30 MB): JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, or AVIF where your browser supports it. Save as JPG, PNG or WebP, with outputs limited to 12,000 pixels per side and 40 megapixels in total. Animated GIFs export as a still image; HEIC is not supported. WebP export needs browser encoding support (otherwise PNG is used); blur requires Canvas filters.

Images are processed in your browser. Image contents and filenames are not sent to our servers or analytics. Refreshing or leaving the tools area clears your working image.

Frequently asked questions

Can I set a crop size in pixels?

Yes. Select Free and enter Crop width and Crop height. The frame stays within the current image, and you can drag it to choose which area to keep.

Why does the image zoom when I straighten it?

Straightening rotates the image and zooms it enough to keep empty corners outside the crop. This can remove some content near the edges, so check the selection before applying it.

Can I move the crop with a keyboard?

Yes. Focus the crop selection and use the arrow keys to move it. Hold Shift with an arrow key to move farther.

Do my images get uploaded?

No. Images are processed locally in your browser. The website uses the anonymous page analytics described in our privacy policy, but image contents and filenames are not collected.

Can I combine edits?

Yes. Select Apply changes to keep an edit before continuing with another tool, or choose Apply & switch when prompted. Undo and Redo move through applied edits, and Restore original returns to the source image. Download your result before refreshing or leaving the tools area.

Continue editing

After applying your crop, resize the cropped image to the dimensions you need.

If the destination requires JPEG, convert PNG to JPG; transparent areas will become white.

Apply your changes?

Keep these changes before switching tools, or discard them and continue with your last applied image.

Leave without downloading?

Your current image and edits live only in this tab. Leaving the tools area clears this session. Keep editing to download your result first, or leave and discard the session.
